Areo Lifetime Orders

The day was coming to an end and I was happy about that. Just a few more left and then I could go home. Tomorrow we start all over again. It was late when I arrived at the place I had visited twice before already today. This would be my last training session with Areo for today and I think both he and his rider were happy about that. It had been one intense day. Walking to the arena Areo nickered and I smiled. It seemed the boy already recognised me. The rider petted his neck and walked to me holding his hand out for the ear piece. I handed it to him and he walked off with Areo.
Looking around I noticed the jumps were different placed and when I asked the rider said they had changed them to see how Areo would respond and that he had done great. Telling him to show me the duo went for it. I watched it and just corrected movement of the rider or commands given to late or to early. Areo was responding very well and it made me smile. If this boy would continue like this, he would be on the next level in no time. Moving to one of the jumps while Areo was focused an another I changed the pole so it was an half cross. It confused Areo when he came towards it, which resulted in a refusal.
Looking at the rider I explained why I had done it, Areo had remembered what to do but also needed to learn jumps could be different. They approached again and Areo jumped it perfectly and I told the rider to go again and again. As they were over it four times I again changed the jump and Areo refused again. Looking at the rider I smiled and told him not to be nervous. If he was than Areo would notice and think something would be wrong. To just be sure and Areo would follow his lead. Telling him to go another few rounds I moved to the jump I had not changed yet. Waiting for Areo to have jumped it I changed one side one up higher and then waited. The rider seem to not notice at all and Areo jumped without any trouble.
Not wanting to push Areo to much I just placed one more jump down and placed it stratigicly so they had the same amount of room in between. I left the last jump as the lowest as Areo had already done a lot of learning today. We just did the jumps twice in which Areo moved correctly with the rider. The rider however was less concentrated which made Areo at time unsure and even then he jumped but was less balanced. I told the rider to work on that for himself and to work with Areo on their dynamics. If he could be sure for every jump, they could go far.

After a morning of training horses and their riders, I came full circle when I once again met up with Icewatchers Areo and his rider. Earlier I had trained them at the beginning of show jumping and now I was going to continue this training and build on what we had learned before. As I drove up to where I needed to be I already saw Areo and his rider waiting for me. Getting from I car and taking the communication device with me I smiled and walked to them. The rider took it and put the earpiece in so we could start.
The first thing we did is redo every single exercise that we had done previously and Areo seem to remember most of it. The last part he seemed to find pretty hard and so I made it a bit easier for him by making ovals so he could jump in a straight line. It seemed to make it easier for the fjord stallion as he jumped the cross poles without much trouble. Deciding this was good, I decided to make it a bit harder and easier at the same time. This was so Areo would not get bored doing the same thing over and over again every single time. I moved the jumps to the long sides and placed them in the middle. Now the rider needed to use the whole line to go from one to the other. Raising the crosses with one peg I watched how Areo handle them. He wasn't all too bad, but he was less focused than he was before.
Deciding to make a small change after he for the third time had missed a jump, I placed them lower but horizontal and not in a cross. He seems to not understand why and the first few times refused to jump them. I advise the rider to give a bit more direct commands and Areo jumped. A smile crossed my lips and I told the rider it was enough and to cool him down. While that was happening I cleaned up the arena and got my communication device back. Telling the rider I will be seeing them again soon I also advised them to keep practicing the jumps.

Today I received a message if I could go and see Areo the Norwegian fjord stallion of Icewatcher. Looking on my calendar I noticed I did not have much planned for today and responded that it would not be a problem. After a thank you message and receiving the needed files as to what was needed I made my way to the stable Areo was housed at. The place was nice and I parked my car and enjoyed the view I saw. Horses were running in the pasture in the early morning sun.
Walking to the arena I saw Areo and his riding already doing the warm-up and it was nice to see. Areo was calm and relaxed and listened well to what his rider asked of him. Walking into the arena I handed Areo his rider a microphone and earpiece and put mine in as well. This was a lot easier working especially seeing that I knew there would be more hours I would work today. The rider adjusted the earpiece to his liking and we started the lesson.
Jumping. The first thing I did was place several poles on the ground to see how Areo would respond to them and let them trot over it. Both did amazingly well and I placed more poles down repeating the exercise. After this went well, I made a circle with the poles, and instead of a straight line, I let them trot around in a circle to teach Areo to pay attention to where he placed his feet. This was a bit harder for him but he tried his best.
In the second exercise I did with the two I placed small crosses down with just a small space in between. It was a balance exercise for both rider and horse as both needed to work together to get over correctly. And even if Areo a few times touched the poles with his feet, they all stayed on and the exercise in my opinion was a success. After that, I combined both exercises placing trot poles down which ended in a row of three cross jumps. Then making it that in a circle it went trot pole on the ground, small cross, trot pole, small cross. This was harder for them as they were and in a circle so they had to bent and pay attention. It did not go perfect but they worked well together and that was what I wanted. They needed to learn how to work together and I was proud of both.
Looking at my phone calendar I also noticed I had the pair again later that day.

My morning started with a visit to Areo , the Norwegian Fjord stallion needed to have his basic exam and his vaccinations. His exams he past with flying colors mostly, besides that he could loose some more weight. The vaccination went without much trouble, even if he looked at me like that stung. Going over the rest of the order which was Dental care and deciding his age I placed the mouth gear on Areo. He did not like it to much but allowed it within reason. His teeth looked good beside a small hook which was removed. Meanwhile I could check his age and from the look of his teeth I determint that Areo was 4 years old. Removing the mouth gear which Areo was happy about I returned him to his pasture and gave him a treat (sugar free). See you next time Areo

Today I needed to go and see Areo, this beautiful stallion needed to have his hooves check and a barefoot trim on all fours. He was already standing ready for me to start and with most hooves, he stood patiently. The last one he became a bit impatient, but still, let me finish both the hoof check and the trimming.

Today I went to see Areo to give him a nice grooming time. As I arrived Areo was standing in the pasture and I took him out and brought him to the washing stall. He enjoyed the brushing very much, but when I put the water on he was a bit restless, with some talking I was able to relax him and make sure he became nice and clean. After he was dry, I put some oil on his hooves to make sure he keeps healthy feet. After I was done with Areo I checked him for any wounds, but he had none. Letting him stand in the solarium I went to muck out his stable and refill his food and water. After finishing I placed him in his clean stall, gave him a pat, and locked it before leaving
