Khan Lifetime Orders

After I had been done with the hooves of Khan I also needed to see him in my capacity as Vet. he needed his normal check ups with some extra work as deciding his age. Khan stood nice and still while I did the first part of the job and injected him with the vaccine he needed for now. Even if he was a large horse and was known to not know his strength he was pretty relaxed today and I decided to take advantace of that. The Basic exam did not show anything special, and I was happy to give him a clean bill of health, before moving to his mouth. HIs teeth looked good, besides some very small hooks which I took care off. But from them I could say this boy was slightly older than the papers said. I would more say he was eight years old and not the six which were in his paper. I made a note for Ethan for this to have it changed. Always good to have a vet check this out. Just the worm treatment was left and Khan even if he didn't seem to like the taste took it like a pro. After being done and giving him a slice of apple for being such a good boy I brought him for the seccond time back to his pasture, telling him he could rest now.

Today went to see Khan from Ethan. The Lusitano stallion he had was due for a his pedicure. Already having the waiting list I knew today I would come home and need a bath. Loads of work to do. On arrival I noticed that Khan was still standing in his pasture and I watched the stallion move about. Maybe because I was a farrier I noticed the small unevenness of his step and decided to see what the problem was. Taking him from the pasture I moved him to where I had set up everything and tied him down. The problem I had seen had came from his front hooves so I started there. It was pretty fast clear it was just a small rock which had inbedded itself between the previous shoe and the ledge. Removing both shoe and pebble I looked and took care of the trim. and the small puncture hole before giving Khan a new shoe there. He did faboulish and I was happy. All other hooves were fine and as they were trimmed and had their new summer shoes Khan was done. I padded him and brought him back to the pasture. He moves away from me and I noticed he did not walk uneven anymore.

Today I went out to take care of Khan. He was already inside the stable, so I took him out to the midway. I got out my brushes and started grooming him. He was fairly clean already, but I made sure there was little to no dust left. He accidentally stepped on my foot when I was picking his hooves. Ouch. After grooming and picking his hooves it was time to braid his mane and tail. I started by making a neat braid in his mane. Then I moved onto his tail. When I was putting the rubberband on it snapped. It didn't leave a mark, but it hurt. In the end I managed to braid him at least. After that I took out the hoof oil, and applied it to all four hooves, leaving them shiny. Then it was time for his massage. For the first half he kept looking back at me. I don't think he really understood what I was doing. After a while he stopped and seemed to just relax instead. By the time I was finished he was basically half asleep. He even looked kinda disappointed once he realized I stopped. The last thing I had to do was mucking. Mabye not the most fun thing, but it's important. Luckily his stall wasn't to dirty. I got rid of what I needed to, and kept what I could. Once all of the dirty bedding was out, I threw in some clean bedding and spread it out evenly. Then I went and got Khan into his stall again and gave him a carrot before moving on.
